The new Fireside, Kitchen Table or Conference Room?

Actually, although it’s being likened to a fireside chat, I don’t think it is. In fact, I think there’s a good indicator here of Obama’s style which ismore formal and dignified and I suspect very consciously so. We may be seeing the first steps towards restoring respect for the presidency and for government. The Bush style as frequently informal in appearance, while dictatorial in action. Obama has a clkear idea of whose in command and wants to communicate that to other, while at the same time I suspect he’ll make extra effort to speak and to listen. Bottom line – both appearance and reality are in for a mega-shift.

I’d call it the Conference room” approach – at least until someone comes up with a better metaphor.
